"Bag of Laws" Passes from Parliament
The controversial "Bag Law" passed through parliament. Students sentenced for "terror crimes" are exempt from the amnesty for students. The right to social security of victims of the military coups in 1972 and 1980 was limited to those who were acquitted at the time.

"Judicial Reform Bill" Passed through Parliament
After controversial discussions between the government and the main opposition party, the "Judicial Reform Bill" passed through the Turkish parliament on 9 February. Justice Minister Ergin appreciated the amendmens, CHP member Ince criticized the draft bill.

Judge and Prosecutor brought Academic to Jail
Lecturer Bilal Bekar was arrested after an argument with a judge in Rize. A court had decreed not to arrest him, but Bekar was taken to jail upon the prosecution's appeal. The teachers' union criticized the arrest as being "contrary to the law".

Pedal Sound Bicycle Society has launched a petition campaign against the extra charge demanded for bicycles on sea buses. Ferries don’t require an extra charge for bicycles. IDO states that it requires the extra charge for bicycles because there is no room in sea buses. However, “They find the room after getting the three TL,” says bicycle-lover Nance. “They would not accept bicycles at all if the problem was about lack of room.”
