Police operations across 14 provinces left 4 law enforcement officers arrested.
Istanbul 5th Peace Criminal Court ordered the arrest of police officers Metin Güneş, Ubeydullah Çelik, Abdulkerim Anaçoğlu and Serkan Durmaz for "recording non-overt conversations between individuals".
While seven of the 20 aforementioned police officers were released by a prosecutor order, the remaining 13 were transferred to a vacation court for arrest. While 4 were arrested today, the remaining 9 were banned from traveling abroad.
39 police arrested
A total of 39 policemen were arrested within the operation to investigate "illegal tappings".
On July 25, 8 were arrested within the investigation. Next day, 12 more police officers were arrested including Intelligence Police Commissioner Ali Fuat Yılmazer.
On July 30, 11 were arrested for "spying" allegations including Istanbul's former Anti-Terror Police Commissioner Yurt Atayün.
Yesterday, 4 were arrested for charges including "recording non-overt conversations between individuals" and "fraud in official documents". (ÇT/BM)
