Events and demonstrations have been banned in Turkey's eastern province of Dersim (Tunceli) for a period of 15 days.
According to a written statement released on the official website of the Tunceli Governor's Office yesterday, the ban has been imposed due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and it will be in effect as of 00.01 today (September 29) until 23.59 p.m. on October 13.
The following meetings and events will be banned:
"All types of meetings and protest marches, rallies, open air meetings, protest demonstrations, sit-ins, hunger strikes, opening stands, petitions, concerts, festivals, distributing leaflets and handouts, opening banners, lighting and carrying torches, conferences and all similar other events..."
Officials events are not included
The following events have been excluded from the scope of the ban: The events approved by Governor's Office and Sub-Governor's Offices; the programs to be organized by public bodies and institutions to mark official holidays, official commemoration days, official ceremonies and celebrations and the programs to be held by these bodies and institutions according to traditions and customs; sports activities.
