New Law on Child Abuse
The law against sexual abuse of children will be reviewed. Novelties will include recognizing juveniles under the age of 18 as children. Furthermore, calling a child for a meeting via the internet will be considered a crime.

Newspapers Victimize Abused Child
Turkish dailies ignored ethic principles and the laws when they reported about a mother and her four-year-old child who had been heavily abused. The papers published the names and the photographs of the victims and thus made them victims once more.

In the Üzmez case, the judges have demanded a new report on child B.Ç. Öztürk from the Bursa Women’s Platform says that this would increase the trauma of the child. The fact that Üzmez is being tried without detention means that there is no deterrent for sexual abuse.
