Şişli Municipality and Struggle Against Sexual Violence Association have launched a project called “Children Tell, You Listen. Prevent Abuse” against child abuse.
As part of the project struggle Against Sexual Violence Association and Family Planning Foundation of Turkey experts will hold trainings for personnel and parents, and participatory teachers will conduct studies to raise awareness in children.
The publicity meeting of the project was held today (March 2) at Nazım Hikmet Kültür ve Sanat Derneği. Making the presentation of the meeting, Zelal Yalçın from Şişli Municipality Social Equality Unit said that they’ve seen how the project was needed by looking at the abuses incidents covered by the media.
Yalçın also stated that they will open the sources to everybody’s use so that the other institutions as well can take action.
Special units for children
As part of the project, municipality personnel working at different units will be provided training.
Teachers serving at units specially formed for children will teach children the bodily rights and mechanisms from which they can seek help. The training is aimed to be spread to all pre-schools and primary schools. Seminars also will be held at the special units.(BK/TK)
