İstanbul based Gazetem İstanbul daily was attacked by a group of 25-30 people yesterday (July 17).
The daily located in a Shopping Mall in Beylikdüzü district was attacked by a group around at 12:30 a.m.
The attackers storming the daily’s office damaged tables, chairs and computers. The photos taken in the news center of the daily are displaying broken cupboards and thrown away chairs.
It is seen in the security camera footage that the attackers entered the Shopping Mall easily and that security officers didn’t intervene.
İstanbul Local Reporters Association President, Mehmet Mert stated that “The attackers told the security officer ‘We are the AK Gençlik (AK Youth)*, Gazetem İstanbul is pro-coup that’s why we launched the attack’”.
Police have launched investigation into the incident. (EA/TK)
