bianet set out as one of the pioneers of digital publishing 22 years ago. Since then, it has been both the center of human rights journalism and a school with the bianet workshop. It brought topics like citizen journalism, the gender terminology dictionary, and children's journalism to the agenda of journalists. Honestly, I wasn't aware of the many publications that had been made, when I said "Hello" to bianet in February.
As bianet leaves behind years one after the other, it also constantly renewed its team. Journalists put their hands under the stone and then passed the baton to someone else. During this time, the understanding of publishing has also been changing day by day worldwide. With the entry of the pandemic into our lives, digital media had to cover the ground it would have covered in a long time in a shorter time. Conventional media largely gave way to digital media. In the meantime, it was time for bianet to change as well.
We have presented a new design to your liking. Of course, we value your suggestions and criticisms about this. Not only the design will change, of course, but we are also trying to adapt to the changing journalism. Within our capabilities, we will try to deliver more video news to you. From time to time, we will provide you with information more quickly with live broadcasts.
For a while now, we have been hosting institutions and individuals who are fighting for rights as bianet. We listen to their work and try to understand their sensitivities. We not only see their grievances but also the gains achieved in the struggle for rights. We discuss what we can do together. We will continue the meetings in the coming period, and we are waiting for you as well.
We continue to keep records of violations against the media and the registry related to male violence. At the same time, we try to make activism visible with the Turkey Human Rights Struggle Map.
We continue our journey, together with you, and by renewing and developing. We said "Another journalism is possible," and this time we say, "A new journalism is possible."
