Ankara University Faculty of Law lecturer Asst. Prof. Dr. Kerem Altıparmak has been reprimanded by the university administration over a lecture on the State of Emergency.
Stating that he had been censored over an open lecture he had held on the State of Emergency on October 26, 2017, Altıparmak pointed out that the provision which when applied provided a censure, entered into force only on December 2, 2016 and added that "crimes and penalties cannot be addressed retrospectively".
Making a statement as to the issue on his Twitter account, Altıparmak noted that he would challenge "this unlawful practice" and said that "Universities are places, where everything can be discussed". (EKN/DG)
