In the October-November-December period, nine Kurdish media employees were arrested and 11 journalists were detained. 171 journalists appeared before the court. Four of the eight attacks on journalists came from the police. Happy January 10 Working Journalists' Day.

Now it's the time for 'disinformation' tactics to silence journalism
According to the BİA Media Monitoring Report of the July-August period, 126 media representatives faced trials. In the last three months, at least five media representatives, including three women and one LGBTI+, were detained. The most important agenda of the three months was the "Disinformation Law."

In the last quarter of 2021, at least 214 journalists appeared before the judge in 81 court cases in Turkey, facing 23 different charges. At least 62 were charged with “organization membership” and 14 “terror propaganda.” Happy Working Journalists Day!

According to BİA Media Monitoring Report, 29 journalists were physically attacked, 11 were detained in the 3rd quarter of 2021. While the attacks on journalists soared from 11 to 29 in a year, they went beyond borders with Erk Acarer stabbed in Berlin.

In the second quarter of 2020, at least two journalists were arrested, two journalists were physically assaulted and seven journalists were threatened. The RTÜK fined the TVs 5 million 906 thousand 326 lira and radios 25 thousand 35 lira in total.

In January-February-March 2020, at least 33 journalists and media representatives were detained. During the coronavirus outbreak, 12 local journalists were detained for “spreading panic and fear” and three journalists had to depose.

212 journalists were put on trial, 13 journalists were detained. Access to at least 577 online news articles was blocked. Radio and TV Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed 9 penalty fines, 5 broadcast suspensions. 31 journalists lost their jobs in 3 months.

In Last Three Months, 186 People Are Tried For Their Thoughts
BİA Media Monitoring Report showed that in the first quarter of 2008, 186 people, 71 of whom are journalist, were tried for 92 cases and 12 new cases were opened for violating Article 301. The publication bans threaten the right to receive information.
