We are gathering at the BİA Workshop on July 3 at 6 pm to launch the Media Monitoring Database.
The Media Monitoring Reports in which we document rights violations against media employees and organizations will be archived at the database.
The Media Monitoring Database which we launch within the Legal Reporting and Media Freedom Project aims to make rights violations in Turkey's media environment visible.
Legal Reporting and Media Freedom ProjectWe completed the Legal Journalism and Media Freedom Project in January 2018 - February 2019 with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The project was coordinated by Elif Ünal. In our round-table meeting that we organized with Civil Rights Defenders, we discussed legal journalism with journalists, lawyers, academics and rights defenders. Prof. Dr. Aslı Tunç talked about legal journalism from the perspective of an academic, Gökçer Tahincioğlu from the perspective of a journalist and Fikret İlkiz from that of a lawyer. We would like to extend our thanks to the bianet team who has contributed to the publication of this handbook, the MYRA team for designing the book and everyone who has given us an insight with their opinions and suggestions. |
The Media Monitoring Reports are written by Erol Önderoğlu, the RSF's representative in Turkey. Assistant Prof. Ulaş Karan was the academic consultant, Attorney Gülçin Kaner was the editor, Elif Ünal was the coordinator and Ali Seçkin Karayol was the visual designer of the project.
In the launching event, we will also talk about the media environment and rights violations against media employees in Turkey. Erol Önderoğlu, Ulaş Karan and Gülçin Kaner will also attend the event. Then a cocktail reception will be held.
