The results of repeat İstanbul Metropolitan Mayoral elections were published on the Official Gazette today (July 11).
According to the official results announced by the Supreme Election Council (YSK), there were 10 million 560 thousand 963 registered voters who were eligible to vote in İstanbul election rerun. While 8 million 925 thousand 166 of these voters went to the ballot box on June 23, 8 million 746 thousand 566 of these votes were deemed valid.
Accordingly, Nation Alliance's İstanbul Metropolitan Mayoral candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) received 4 million 742 thousand 82 votes. His closest rival Binali Yıldırım, the People's Alliance's candidate from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) received 3 million 936 thousand 68 votes.
While İmamoğlu received 54.22 percent of the votes, Yıldırım received 45 percent, which accounts for a margin of 806 thousand 14 votes.
As for the other candidates, Felicity Party (SP) candidate received 47 thousand 832 votes, Patriotic Party candidate received 13 thousand 962 votes and independent candidates received 6 thousand 622 votes in total.
Results of other repeat elections
The repeat elections held in the Town of Kesmetepe in Adıyaman, the District of Yusufeli in Artiv, the district of Honaz in Denizli and the district of Keskin in Kırıkkale on June 2 were published together on the Official Gazette.
Accordingly, in the repeat elections held in these four places, the number of registered voters was 34 thousand 630, the number of ballot boxes was 128, the number of votes cast was 30 thousand 877, the electoral turnout was 89.16 ğpercent and valid votes were 30 thousand 140.
While the ruling AKP candidates have been elected the Mayors of Keskin and Yusufeli by receiving 13 thousand 297 votes, CHP candidate has won the repeat election in Honaz with 13 thousand 103 votes and Democratic Left Party (DSP) candidate won the election in Kesmetepe with 370 votes. (AÖ/SD)
