Curfew declared in 14 villages in Lice, Kocaköy and Hazro districts of Diyarbakır due to an operation was lifted as of 8 a.m. this morning (April 14).
According to the announcement on the official website of Diyarbakır Governorship, curfew was declared in the following villages to be in effect as of 6 a.m. yesterday (April 13):
* Uçarı, Ziyaret, Esenler, Kayacık, Ortaç, Yalaza, Bağlan, Çavundur and Dolunay villages in Lİce district,
* Boyunlu and Gözebaşı villages in Kocaköy district,
* Sarıerik, Meşebağları and Çitlibahçe villages in Hazro district.
The governorship announced the curfew was declared in order to ensure security of citizens and their property during the operation which was to be carried out in the region against members of the Separatist Terrorist Organization (BTÖ).
During the curfew, a school whose language of instruction is Kurdish in Yalaza (Kerwas) village of Lice province demolished.
The four-storey school built in 2014 was demolished accompanied by the gendarmerie.
Lice Prosecutor's Office had decided to demolish the building in 2014 yet had stepped back due to reactions and protests. (YY/DG)
