Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office has issued a written statement regarding ByLock, an encrypted communication software allegedly used among those who carried out the July 15 coup attempt and was therefore considered an important piece of evidence in the investigations launched following the July 15 coup attempt.
In its statement, the Chief prosecutor's office reported that 11 thousand 480 GSM numbers were directed to ByLock without knowledge of their users. Some of these users have been directed to providers such as Mor Beyin (Purple Brain) considered to have been developed by member of the "Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ)" and thus to ByLock IPs as well, without knowing it, according to the statement.
The prosecutor's office has also stated, that the situation of these 11,480 people would be reconsidered in the light of the new findings.
According to Ministry of Justice, ByLock is adequate evidence
In a statement he made on September 25, 2017, Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül had pointed to a decision of the Supreme Court of Appeals 16th Penal Chamber, that found that ByLock constituted an adequate evidence for determining a terrorist organization and noted that the Court would render a final verdict on an appeal in the coming days.

In a statement issued on October 22, 2017, Minister of Justice reported that there were 49 thousand 697 people arrested in operations against "FETÖ", 8 thousand nad 997 others were subjected to an arrest warrant and 738 people were in detention. (HK/DG)
