Turkey has lifted the wearing of mandatory Covid-19 masks except for hospitals.
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca noted in a Twitter post that the country recorded less than 1000 Covid cases in the last three days.
"We can remove our masks in public transportation, it is easier without masks. Wearing masks is not mandatory anymore except for hospitals. However, after this much experience, we shall keep our masks with us, especially in public transportation and crowded indoor spaces," Koca said.
The government lifted the indoor mask mandate on April 26 except for public transportation and in hospitals after a significant decrease in the number of daily new Covid-19 cases.
864 new coronavirus cases and 2 deaths were registered in Turkey yesterday (May 29).
The country's death toll stands at 98,955 with a total of 15.1 million cases.
Some 129,961 people were tested for the virus and 1,107 people recovered from the disease in 24 hours.
Over 85 percent of the country's adult population have received at least two doses of the coronavirus vaccine with 27.7 million people receiving at least three jabs, according to the ministry figures. (AÖ/TB/VK)
