‘Press in trouble’ campaign on World Press Freedom Day
On May 3 World Press Freedom Day, the Journalists’ Union of Turkey (TGS) has launched a social media campaign of “Basın Belada” (The press is in trouble), making a word play with “basın” (press) and “başın belada” (You are in trouble).

Journalist Ayşegül Doğan has been sentenced to 6 years, 3 months in prison. Put on trial over her journalistic activities, Doğan was the Program Coordinator of the İMC TV, which was closed by a Statutory Decree after the coup attempt in 2016.
