The four administrators of the OdaTV.com news portal are still in custody after the raid on their homes and office earlier this week. Turkish journalists organizations and the Human Rights Association criticized the operation as an attempt to silence dissident voices.

Kurdish Politician Puts up with Fine but Demands Respect
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Mayor Baydemir has to pay TL 30,000 (€ 15,000) in compensation to Prime Minister Erdoğan on charges of "attacking his personal rights". Baydemir commented, "I only want him to respect us. I will pay the 30,000 lira".

Imprisoned Writer Berktaş Wins at ECHR
"Hücreler" - 'Prison Cells' is the title of the book that brought writer Berktaş to jail. Berktaş now won her case at the ECHR and Turkey was sentenced to a fine of € 15,000 in compensation. The same amount has to be paid to publisher Çamyar.

The Rize High Criminal Court insisted on the reversal of the decision given by the Trabzon Chief Prosecution regarding alleged negligence prior to the murder of journalist Dink. The Prosecution had decided to drop procedures. Now, the investigation will be broadened.

The Istanbul 10th High Criminal court rejected the release of journalist and interpreter Suzan Zengin. Zengin will have been kept in detention for almost two years by the time of the next hearing on 14 June.

522 Unsolved Murders in 5 Years
Research of the Human Rights Association in Eastern and South-Eastern Turkey revealed 375 cases of unsolved murders from 2006 till the present. According to data compiled by the Turkish Human Rights Foundation, a total of 522 unsolved murders were committed.

D&R Book Store Censors Bir+Bir Magazine
The D&R book stores stopped sales for the current issue of the bir+bir magazine because customers complained about a "denigration of the national anthem" in a poem printed in the issue. The magazine criticized the decision and urged their readers not to be deterred by fascism.

The Istanbul 12th High Criminal Court insisted on its decision for the acquittal of sociologist Pınar Selek for the third time. Her hearing was observed by numerous Turkish and international observers. Selek applied to the ECHR for compensation.

Journalist Güler Sentenced, another Trial Pending
Journalist Erdal Güler, owner of the Revolutionary Democracy newspaper, was sentenced to six months in jail. Güler was just released last October after three years in prison. Another trial on "propaganda for an illegal organization" is still pending against him.
