Turkey's warplanes have carried out dozens of airstrikes on several areas in the territory of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq.
The Ministry of National Defense stated that it destroyed 81 caves, shelters and bunkers in the "Operation Claw-Eagle."
The warplanes targeted the Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) bases in Shingal (Sinjar), Qandil, Karacak, Zap, Avasin-Basyan and Hakurk, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Makhmur town, where a UN refugee camp is located, was also targeted in the airstrikes, the Mezopotamya Agency reported. "While residents of the camp were heading to the bombed areas in convoys, their route was also hit," it said.
The airstrikes lasted for about 40 minutes and activities by reconnaissance aircraft continued for hours, it added.
Also, some civilians were wounded in the airstrikes on Shingal, according to the agency. (EMK/VK)
