Diyarbakır 2nd Peace Court banned the publishing of Charlie Hebdo’s latest cover that depicted Prophet Mohammed.
The ban was imposed upon a complaint submitted by advocate Ercan Sezgin to Diyarbakır 2nd Peace Court.
According to Dicle News Agency (DIHA), Sezgin claimed that the magazine humiliated religious values via media.
Some of the highlights from the complaint are as follows:
“Charlie Hebdo Magazine will have its first issue after an attack that caused the death of 12 people. The magazine will also cause an outrage with its cover due to the insults to our prophet Mohammed.
“The aforementioned statements and caricature will provoke belief-based conflicts and cause people with different religious views to change their feelings regarding each other.
“For the related reasons, this is a request to stop and ban the publishing of the aforementioned caricature images that risk insulting our prophet.” (EKN/BM)
