Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli has released a statement about the "unknown Presidential candidate" of the opposition Nation's Alliance and the "political and economic provocations."
The leader of the MHP, which is in the People's Alliance with the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has defined the statements of the opposition parties from the Nation's Alliance during the 2022 budget talks as a "dark picture", accusing the related parties and their MPs of "sabotaging the Veteran Parliament, attempting to undermine Turkey's democratic image and prestige in the field of law and casting a shadow on the respectability of the budget talks."
Devlet Bahçeli argued that during the budget talks, "the relationship, contact and alliance" between the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), İYİ Party and "other marginal parties have been crystallized and become sharper."
The nationalist party leader accused the related parties and their MPs of "terrorizing the Parliament, making a scene and turning the Parliament into a ring for conflicts and fights by continuously escalating the tension in line with a pre-planned campaign of provocation."
Directing a series of other accusations against the opposition parties, MHP Chair Bahçeli argued that "such a dark picture has never been seen or experienced in the over-a-century-old history of the Parliament."
'Scenario of economic and political collapse'
Further in his written statement, MHP's Bahçeli also mentioned the "scenario of economic and political collapse" foreseen for Turkey.
Referring to "the unfounded and baseless statements about Turkey's economy" and the opposition parties' mentioning of foreign exchange rates, Devlet Bahçeli stated that "everyone will soon see that these inconsiderate acts constitute a historic mistake."
According to Bahçeli, "the treacherous process that could not be achieved with attempted occupations, that could not be accomplished by the attempted coup, that could not be attained by terrorist attacks is attempted to be completed with economic attacks and social mobilizations."
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli also slammed Prof. İzzet Özgenç, who had argued that "a State of Emergency might be declared in Turkey due to the economic crisis." Bahçeli dismissed this allegation as "unwariness and ignorance." (EMK/SD)
