The Live Music and Entertainment Sector Association of Turkey (TESDER) has called on the government to impose a vaccine mandate for all indoor events.
"As the representative of the entertainment sector, which has suffered both material and monetary damage for one and a half years due to the pandemic, we have serious concerns for the upcoming autumn and winter seasons," it said in a written statement today (July 27).
"In the period we left behind, the bans implemented for our sector were not imposed for places such as hotels, shopping malls ... hence a significant result was not achieved," the association said.
Pointing out the recent increase in coronavirus cases, the association said new measures would be needed and a vaccine mandate should be one of them.
The mandate should be issued not only for the music and entertainment sector but also for tourism, hospitality and every field where social interaction occurs, it said.
In accordance with the current virus measures, concert halls and night clubs have to turn down the music after midnight. The government was criticized for imposing the ban despite lifting most measures at the start of July.
