TRT’s Cairo correspondent Metin Turan has been freed by authorities after 115 days of captivation in Egypt.
On August 19, Turan was detained the day after refuging along with 700 hundred protestors in Al-Fattah Mosque in Cairo during “Day of Rage” protests to run away from spree shooting
He was later on temporarily arrested for “provoking violence”, a 45-day term that has been renewed for three times.
Previously, Turan’s advocated submitted motions against the arrest order. A Cairo court admitted the motion last Thursday, freeing 84 other defendants along with Metin Turan for pending trial. (EA/BM)
