The number of people killed in last week's floods in two earthquake-hit provinces rose to 19 as rescue workers recovered one more body.
The body of Fatma Tekdal was found today (March 20) in the tut district of Urfa. Efforts to find Zeynep Zümra Tekdal, a one-year-old baby, are underway.
Sixteen people were killed in Urfa and three were killed in Adıyaman after the floods caused by the torrential rains that started on late March 14. Tent cities in the two provinces were also affected by the floods.
On February 6, two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 struck the southern city of Maraş.
The quakes affected 11 cities in Türkiye's south and southeast, as well as Syria's northern parts, where more than 5,000 people were killed.
Turkey's official death toll from the quakes stands at near 50,000 and is expected to increase further, as more than 227,000 buildings were destroyed or severely damaged. About two million people were displaced after the quakes. (ME/VK)
