Hakkari Governorate has declared curfew in two other villages of Hakkari center and Çukurca district, and announced that the curfew in Gündeş village and its hamlets has been lifted.
According to the announcement the Governorate made on its website this morning (May 9), curfew has been imposed on Geçimli village of provincial center and Akkaya village of Çukurca district for them being “close to border”.
During the curfew to be in effect as of 12:30 a.m. today until further notice entrance to and exits from the villages have been barred.
The curfew declared in Çığlı village of Çukurca district on May 4, and in hamlets of Gündeş Köyü Ormanlı, Çimenli, Güzeldere and Köprülü on May 6 was lifted as of today.
40 detentions, 22 arrests
Yüksekova News reported that 40 people have been detained in villages and hamlets in which the curfew is still in effect.
While 22 people including Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Provincial Assembly Member, Abdullah Ölmez have been released, 12 other arrested on charge of “[illegal] organization membership”. Questioning of the six in custody is ongoing.
The curfew continues in the district.
