In early afternoon, the association released statics concerning November worker death tolls related to poor working conditions.
The November casualties according to sectors were distributed as follows: Construction (36), mining (10), metallurgy (10), seasonal agriculture (4), concrete (4), energy (4), forestry (2), transport (2), communication (2), food (1), leather (1), health (1), lodging (1) and municipality (1).
On early morning November 2, three relative workers--Recep Cırıl (52), Adem Cırıl (22) and Ahmet Tiryaki (23)--were found dead along with Mustafa Bayrak (18) in a container by their colleagues. The statement said four workers were poisoned, holding the construction company responsible for poor working conditions.
The statement also underlined the incident in Samsun, where 6 construction workers tragically perished when a crane truck dropped a massive tank lid that crashed over the workers.
"This is a murder," the statement continued, "because no precautions were taken when crane truck was operating above the workers. They should have either been removed from the zone or worked wither in a protective cage."
The association demanded justice from the authorities, saying such preventable work accidents should rather be accounted as homicide. (NV)
