As part of the "virtual patrolling" activities of the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command, 2 thousand 468 social media accounts were probed in a month and access blocks have been imposed on 387 websites on the alleged ground that "they engaged in illegal activities".
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), during the "virtual patrols" on March 1-31, 2 thousand 468 social media / URL addresses were probed and examined. Following the patrols, 262 websites have been blocked to access "because they offered a platform for illegal betting" and 124 websites have been access blocked "because of posting obscenities".
A website which was detected to engage in phishing was reported to the National Center for Intervention Against Cyber Incidents and an access block has been imposed on the website afterwards.

According to the BİA Media Monitoring Report, in 2021, access blocks were imposed on 975 online news reports by the decisions of criminal judgeships of peace or the Access Providers Union (ESB).
The decisions were given for reasons such as "violation of personal rights" or "the right to be forgotten". The report showed that majority of the news reports were about "bribery, corruption, irregularities, favoritism, violence, religious exploitation and sexual harassment". (AS/SD)
