Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has answered the questions of Sertaç Eş from daily Cumhuriyet.
In response to a question on a possible third alliance ahead of the general elections, Kılıçdaroğlu has defined it as the quest of "the parties that have failed to hold down a place in the other two alliances", namely the ruling People's Alliance and the main opposition Nation's Alliance.
Kılıçdaroğlu has said that "when he read about the third alliance in the newspapers, he found it extremely positive in terms of the development of the democratic ground if the parties outside the People's and Nation's Alliance came together and formed a third alliance."
According to CHP's Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, there are more than one reasons for this: "The first reason is that: As I have said before, the third alliance, the parties that have been unable to hold down a place in the other two alliances are searching for ways to come to the Parliament stronger. This is their democratic right and they are exercising this right."
Explaining further, Kılıçdaroğlu has said, "Secondly, it will eliminate the situation where a political party which does not belong to the alliance is portrayed as such and, in that sense, a political party or more than one parties, I mean the HDP, faces accusations."
He has underlined that in this way, "it will be more clearly seen which party is in which alliance and, therefore, unnecessary accusations and debates will come to an end." Accordingly, he has found the formation of a third alliance "very nice and right" in that respect.
When Sertaç Eş has said, "At this point, it will probably be to the benefit of the Nation's Alliance...", Kılıçdaroğlu has confirmed: "Yes, it will be to us, the İYİ Party and other parties as well." Explaining his answer, Kılıçdaroğlu has said that it will prevent the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and its ally Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) "from accusing the Nation's Alliance by portraying a party not a part of the alliance as such."
