Worker Hasan Karatay's death on the set of the Netflix series "Atiye" (The Gift) after falling down from a ladder sparked protest on social media.
Karatay, working as a painter at the film set, fall down from a high point on April 6. He was declared brain-dead on April 9.
The Cinema-Television Union made a statement on Karatay's death, saying that he was employed without job security and died because of "grave negligence in job security" on the set of the series, which is produced by the OG Medya company.
A funeral was held for Karatay in Sarıgazi, İstanbul yesterday. He will be laid to rest in his hometown Tokat.
"We don't want to die on sets"
The union said that Karatay was working without insurance and there was neither an ambulance nor an occupational safety specialist at the workplace.
"We don't want to die on sets. We want occupational safety specialists on sets. We announce to the public that we will closely watch this tragic incident," the Cinema-Television Union said.

The Performers' Union also released a statement, calling the producer company to explain how the incident happened.
"As those who work behind and in front of the camera, we call the authorities of the producer company to make a public statement on how the accident happened. We want safe, healthy workplaces where the risks and dangers are found and the measures are taken," the union said.
The unions yesterday (April 10) launched a protest on Twitter under the hashtag #setlerdeölmekistemiyoruz (We don't want to die on sets), saying, "We raise our voices to not to reduce by one more!" (HA/VK)
