Taken into custody in Ayvalık, Balıkesir on May 17 and released after his deposition yesterday (May 19), Taylan Kulaçoğlu has been detained again.
Kulaçoğlu was previously targeted by pro-government media outlets over his "Movement of the Nameless" (İsimsizler Hareketi) social media group and he was taken into custody in relation with this movement.
Speaking to bianet about the recent detention, Tamer Doğan, the attorney of Taylan Kulaçoğlu, has said that the prosecutor objected to his release and a warrant was issued against him upon this objection. Kulaçoğlu was detained from his house again by police officers today (May 20).
What happened?
Targeted by pro-government media outlets and social media accounts over his "Movement of the Nameless" (İsimsizler Hareketi) campaign on social media, Taylan Kulaçoğlu and RED magazine Editor-in-Chief journalist Hakan Gülseven were taken into custody on May 17.
They were asked questions about their social media posts at their interrogations both at the police station and prosecutor's office.
While Gülseven and Kulaçoğlu were referred to court with a request for their arrest by the prosecutor, the court ruled for their release on May 19.
Attorney Tamer Doğan announced the release of his clients on Twitter: "May our enemies be green with envy! Our clients have been released." (AS/SD)
