Sweden's Inspectorate of Strategic Products (ISP) has announced that it lifted restrictions on exports of military equipment to Türkiye.
The decision was taken due to Sweden's NATO membership application, the agency said in a statement today (September 30).
Sweden and Finland had halted arms exports to Türkiye after its military operations targeting the Kurdish-controlled areas in northern Syria.
After the two countries applied to join NATO following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Türkiye asked them to resume arms exports, along with other demands, in order to approve their membership bids.
On June 28, the three countries signed a memorandum at the NATO summit in Madrid to address Türkiye's "security concerns." (EMK/VK)
