Two women, including a trans woman, were barred from entering Dağ Ilıcası Spa, a facility in Gönen, Balıkesir province.
Ebru Kırancı from Istanbul LGBTT told bianet that the trans woman who faced discrimination in the spa filed an official complaint to General Attorney's Office in Gönen District.
Kırancı described the event as follows:
“Last night, my lover and I entered a hotel. We gave our identity cards at the registration desk. Then we entered the lady's section of the swimming pool. But when we went to the pool next morning, the hotel supervisor said 'No, gentleman, you can't enter. I said 'what gentleman are you talking about? I said we entered there yesterday as well. Even though we didn't have any problems yesterday, he claimed that there was a complaint. He said I was a man and couldn't enter the pool. My lover also tried to say that I was a woman. They already saw my pink identity card anyways. I have a pink identity card for 15-20 years.
"They made me wait outside with my bathing robe. I told them to call gendarmerie, they didn't. We went to the gendarmerie and then to the prosecutor's office. We testified, we filed a complaint.
“I was subjected to discrimination. These discourses make human other, points out people, provokes hate crimes.” (ÇT)
