"The new bill will allow defendants to use a language in which they feel more comfortable to express themselves," the corollary of the proposal said. The bill proposes an amandement in an article related to "situations requiring interpreters".
The bill will also enable Turkish speaking defendants to use a language other than Turkish to express themselves during their defenses. However, the bill proposed, this interpretator will not intend to slow down the court process.
The defendant will have to bring along their interpreter to the court, CNNTurk said. Other than defendants, the bill will permit suspects, victims witnesses to benefit from the interpretater, appointed by a judge or attorney.
The draft envisions new health related probations, allowing verdicts with a serious illness or disability to serve their sentences after they recover, a regulation that only inmates "who don't pose a threat to public safety" will benefit.
No probation to "organized crime"
According to the bill, verdicts charged with overt and negligant offenses will benefit from probabations up to 3 and 5 years respectively. However, verdicts charged with organized crimes or with a discipline record will be exempted.
New regulations will concern verdicts with ongoing education or with a current deceased relative, allowing them to probate twice, each for a period of 6 months.
Another regulation involved married verdicts, enabling them to meet their spouses in private up to a duration of 24 hours every three months. (AS)
