Turkey's unemployment rate for November 2017 was recorded at 10.3 percent, 1.8 points lower than in the same month of the previous year.
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the unemployment rate for November 2017 stood at 10.3%.
The rate fell 1.8 points compared to the same month last year, and remained the same as in the month before. Overall, unemployment figures had peaked in January 2017 with 13% but have remained below 11% for the past 8 months.
Decrease in youth unemployment and non-agricultural sectors' rates
Unemployment figures for ages 15 and over in the whole of Turkey dropped by 440 thousand people in the period of November 2017 compared to the month before, and occurred at 3 million 275 thousand people. In the same period, non-agricultural unemployment was estimated to be down 2.1 points, at 12.2%. While unemployment among the young population (ages 15-24) was measured at 19.3 percent with a 3.3 point decrease, this rate was recorded at 10.5 percent among the 15-64 age group, with a 1.8 point decrease.
Labor force participation rate: 52.8%
The labor force grew by 1 million 9 thousand people year-on-year, culminating at 31 million 790 thousand people, with the participation rate rising 0.7 points to 52.8 percent. Breaking this down by gender revealed a 0.2 point increase in men's participation in the labor force, to 72.1 percent, and a 1.1-point increase in the corresponding figure for women, to 33.8 percent.
