Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking simultaneously with his Turkish counterpart, Binali Yıldırım as to the agreement reached between Turkey and Israel has said, “The maritime blockade of Israel will continue”.
Netanyahu speaking out in Rome emphasized that the way for Israeli gas to be transferred to Europe through Turkey has been paved by the agreement.
He noted that the “terror activities” to target Israel from Turkey’s soil is prevented.
“Conflict is not good for stability”
“Maritime blockade on Gazza will continue even after the agreement. This is the most important security interest for us. I wasn’t prepared to compromise about this matter. This matter is important to prevent Hamas’ from increasing its power and it will continue as how it was.
“We want to bring stability to the unstable region. Israel and Turkey are two important powers in the region. Our conflict is not good for stability.
“This agreement will prevent any terrorist attack from Turkey targeting Israel. The agreement with Ankara paves the way for Israeli gas to be transferred to Europe through Turkey”.
“Very positive for Israel’s economy”
Netanyahu speaking in Italy’s capital city of Rome where talks were held between Turkish and Israeli delegations on Sunday had said “It will have huge positive effects on Israeli economy”.
Ties between Turkey and Israel were seriously harmed following the killing of nine citizens of Turkey on Mavi Marmara ship brining humanitarian aid to Gazza on May 31, 2010. (YY/TK)
