Human rights advocates from various human rights organizations holding a training meeting in Büyükada, one of the Prince Islands, on protection of human rights advocates were detained yesterday (July 5).
No information has been obtained yet about the detainees and it is not known when they were taken into custody yesterday.
Lawyer Kerem Altıparmak has reported on the social media about the human rights defenders being taken into custody.
According to the information Altıparmak has shared, the names of those in detention in Büyükada police department are as follows:
Nalan Erkem and Özlem Dalkıran (Helsinki Citizens Assembly), İlknur Üstün (Women's Coalition), İdil Eser and Veli Acu (Amnesty International), Günal Kurşun (Human Rights Agenda Association), Nejat Taştan (Association for Monitoring Equal Rights), Şeyhmuz Özbekli and Ali Garawi.
Three more people are reportedly in detention as well yet we have no information regarding their identities yet. (EA/DG)
