HPG (People’s Defence Forces) has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack in Şemdinli district of Hakkari province, killing 15 people including 10 soldiers and five civilians on October 9.
According to Fırat New Agency (ANF), HPG has announced that the attack was carried out by its member Mümin Aras who was born in Van district. The reason for the attack was the prison conditions of PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan, the murder of four people in Yüksekova district and the operations carried out in Şemdinli and Çukurca districts of Hakkari province.
Making a statement following the attack, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım had stated that 10 soldiers and eight civilians had lost their lives and Hakkari Governorship subsequently had announced the number of civilians who lost their lives as five yesterday. (EKN/DG)
