Turkey's 13th President will be determined with the snap election to be held on June 24, 2018. If absolute majority is not constituted, then the second tour will be held on July 8, 2018.

The election developments that took place on May 31, Friday are:

Bozdağ's response to İnce regarding education system

Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson Bekir Bozdağ responded to the election promises of the Presidential candidate of the main opposition party Republican People's Party (CHP) Muharrem İnce regarding the education system.

According to Bozdağ, the system of 1+8+4, which has been proposed by İnce and which foresees that the preschool, primary and secondary education will respectively last for one, eight and four years, means that "the secondary levels of religious vocational high schools as well as other vocational high schools will be closed."

Muharrem İnce previously criticized the education policies of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) by stating,

"The system of 4+4+4, where the pre-school, primary and secondary education lasts for four years each, will not continue. For the last 16 years, the Minister of Education has been changed for six times and the education system for five times. A change has been made nine months before the exam. A system of 1+8+4 will be adopted in education."

MHP has criticized the survey companies

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chair Semih Yalçın criticized the survey companies by stating that they are highly unsuccessful at their election forecasts and there are almost no impartial survey companies.

With this statement, Yalçın targeted the survey companies which published survey results showing the MHP under the electoral threshold at the Parliamentary election on June 24:

"Those who think that the MHP cannot come out of the ballot box will be embarrassed once again. Our party will be again honored by the attention and love of our beloved nation and will qualify to be represented at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with a strong group."

Constitutional Court has rejected CHP's application

The Constitutional Court has rejected the application made by the CHP which has demanded that certain provisions of the law on election alliance be cancelled. (HK/SD)
