Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş said that the monitoring committee to the resolution of the Kurdish problem is not their red line as long the “process would continue”.
“It is important that the government also mentions about such a committee,” he added.
Contrasting ideas on the monitoring committee was discussed by Turkey’s top leaders Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Bülent Arınç - President of Turkey and Government Spokesperson respectively.
While the former expressed that he didn’t regard the idea positively as it could be handled by the intelligence, the latter said the committee would be formed by 5 or 6 members.
“Do we have to tolerate this?"
Ankara'da Kafkas Dernekleri Federasyonu Genel Merkezi'ni ziyereti sonrası soruları yanıtlayan Demirtaş made his speech during a conference in Ankara.
“They are divided between each other. I hope the divide will even deepen so that we can see how much dirt there is. We can learn who sold the parcel to another [referring to Arınç’s allegations that Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek sold the city of Ankara parcel by parcel”.
“I don’t think this is about the resolution process. Turkey is watching an inappropriate debate that reflects the deep division amid Justice and Development Party (AKP) officials. We don’t have to watch this.
“Let them come together, let them say what they say. Does the society need to watch this inappropriate situation? Does Turkey need to watch all statemen’s personal ambitions? We don’t need this. Turkey doesn’t need this.
“The president, on the other hand, is throwing insults to our kin. The level of appropriateness is low. This has nothing to do with the resolution process and this is about their inappropriate level." (YY/BM)
