The concert planned in Istanbul's Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian's birth, which was scheduled for yesterday (September 21), has been postponed.
According to Agos Newspaper, the concert, organized by the Permanent Representation of Armenia to the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, was set to feature Turkish musicians alongside the Khachaduryan Trio from Armenia and the Istanbul Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra conducted by Oleksandr Samoylenko.
The concert's rescheduled date has not been announced.
What happened?
On September 19, the Azerbaijani military launched an operation on Karabakh, which had been under blockade for nine months, citing civilian and police casualties in attacks. Azerbaijani officials announced on the same day that four police officers and six Azerbaijani citizens had lost their lives.
According to information compiled by the Artsakh (Karabakh) Human Rights Advocacy Office, at least 200 people were killed, and more than 400 were injured as a result of Azerbaijan's attack. It was reported that among the casualties, 10 were civilians, including 5 children.
In response to these events, citizens in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, took to the streets to protest and demand the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Following the agreement and ceasefire decision reached on September 20, representatives of Karabakh Armenians and Azerbaijani officials met in the city of Yevlakh, Azerbaijan, on September 21. A representative from the Russian Peacekeeping Forces also attended the meeting as an observer. No statements were made after the meeting.(TY/PE)
