Supreme Election Board (YSK) has completed its works about the list of candidates for June 24 parliamentary elections.
Mezopotamya Agency has reported that the YSK has ruled that Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak MP candidate Abdullah Güngen doesn’t qualify to be a candidate in terms of his forbidden rights.
Güngen was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison on charge of “being a member of an illegal organization” by Diyarbakır 6th Heavy Penal Court, and his sentence was finalized on March 27, 2014.
The YSK has vetoed Güngen on the ground that the decision to return his legal rights hasn’t been issued even though the Güngen’s penalty was enforced on September 13, 2017.
Penalty of Baluken has been upheld
HDP’s imprisoned Diyarbakır MP İdris Baluken was nominated as candidacy from the province of Batman. Jail term of 9 years and 2 months issued on May 23 was upheld by the court of appeal.
It has been stated that another candidate will be nominated in place of Baluken. (TP/TK)
