Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli spoke at the weekly group meeting of his party today (November 13).
During his speech, Bahçeli also addressed the explosion of ammunition that took place in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari and claimed the lives seven soldiers on November 9.
Stating that "if there was any negligence in the explosion, the responsible parties have to be severely punished", Bahçeli also added:
"We are patiently waiting for a reasonable and plausible explanation for the explosion in Süngü Tepe (in Hakkari). The slightest carelessness, the smallest negligence will lead to grave consequences.
"The lives of soldiers are entrusted to the state. Every son of ours, who performs his military service, is of an invaluable importance for us.
"If there was any negligence in the explosion, the responsible parties have to be severely punished."
PKK claimed it; Akar said, "No external influence"
While the Ministry of National Defense previously announced that the explosion that took place in the ammunition in Hakkari was an accident, the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) released a written statement and claimed that the explosion occurred as a result of its attack. The PKK also alleged that 17 soldiers lost their lives in the explosion instead of seven.
Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar made a statement yesterday (November 12) and indicated that there was no external influence in the explosion that claimed the lives of seven soldiers. Akar also added that the explosion was triggered by the fire caused by high pressure. (EKN/SD)
