Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) criticized the AKP government’s stance to the recent military intervention in Yemen, requesting a general parliamentary session for discussion.
Signed by HDP Group Interim Chairman Idris Baluken, the request was made upon Constitution Article 98 and other related articles of parliamentary regulations.
The statement for the session permission stressed that Yemen turned into a “furnace of violence” and underlined on Russia and Iran’s reactions on the “Sunni-block-seeming” coalition’s interventions. HDP also warned that the crisis might deepen.
While the request urged the AKP government to end its “sect-centered” politics, it further asserted that this attitude dragged Turkey in the midst of “sect-centered clashes”.
“It is about a bloody negotiation to drag the peoples of Middle East, Arab Peninsula and Mesopotamia in the midst of a years long conflict.
“At this point, our parliamentary session request is becoming urgent as we would like to put forward the necessities on both Turkey’s historical and strategic mission and its ethnic and religious responsibilities in the country and its adoption to the changing world and regional dynamics.” (YY/BM)
