Workers went on strike today upon disagreement between United Metal-Labor Union and Electromechanics Metal Employer Union (EMİS) over collective labor agreement that involves 2,200 workers.
The strike involves GE Grid Solution, ABB, Schneider Enerji, Schneider Elektrik workplaces in 13 factories from four cities. Strike banners were hung in İstanbul’s districts of Dudullu, Kartal, and provinces of İzmir, Manisa and Kocaeli.
The union had taken a decision to go on strike on December upon the disagreement over collective labor agreement that was lasting since September 7, 2016.
The union and its members came to decide to put the strike into practice.
Raise by 23% is asked
Interviewing to bianet, United Metal-Labor Union Secretary General Özkan Atar said:
“The employer offered 17% raise but our demand is 23%. Besides, there are problems about leaves of union representatives. There are also some issues on temporary labor and shift premiums”. (NV/TK)
