Yesterday (June 20), the Hakkari Governorate declared a ban on various public activities and events within the southeastern province.
The authorities deem these limitations necessary in order to, ''prevent the commission of crimes, protect the indivisible integrity of the state and the nation, ensure national security, maintain public order, safeguard the rights and freedoms of others, preserve public health, prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, prevent possible provocations and potential social incidents."
Starting today (June 21), the newly imposed restrictions will be in effect until July 5 and encompasses a wide range of public spaces, including squares, streets, roads, and parks. It prohibits various activities, including rallies, open-air meetings, demonstrations, sit-ins, protest actions, and the formation of human chains for protests.
Additionally, activities such as public speeches, gatherings, public meetings utilizing sound and broadcasting equipment, hunger strikes, tent installations, press releases, setting up stands, signature campaigns, releasing sky lanterns, sticking stickers, flying balloons, drones, paramotors, gliders, and other airborne activities are strictly forbidden.
