Erhan Kurt, a member of the Good (İYİ) Party in Gülyalı, Ordu, lost his life in a knife attack in front of the party building during the celebrations in the district following the election results last night (May 28).
Uğur Poyraz, a MP and General Secretary of Good Party announced the incident.
"Erhan Kurt, a member of our party in Gülyalı, Ordu and a balloting committee member in the elections lost his life as a result of an assault in front of our party building in the district. We wish Allah's mercy for our brother Erhan and condolocences to his family, friends and the whole Good Party community. We strongly denounce this attack which is the result of the language that polarizes us as a nation and the perpetrator/s. We will follow this case with determination."
"The result of the hate speech"
Democratic Party Vice President and Ordu MP Cemal Enginyurt wrote on Twitter and blamed the Justice and Development Party (AKP) circles.
"AKP gangs murdered one in Gülyalı, Ordu.What a shame! This is where we came as a result of so much of hate speech. The AKP members killed our friend Erhan Kurt during their celebrations in Gülyalı, Ordu. Those of you who are ruling this country; are you happy now, this is the result of your hate speech," Enginyurt said.
Statement from CHP
Seyit Torun, the Ortu MP and the Vice President of the Republican People's Party (CHP) also shared a post about the sad event. "Those who are making the so-called celebration killed our young brother Erhan Kurt with a knife. What a shame for this hatred!" he wrote. (AS/PE)
