Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair made a statement after the hunger strikes and death fasts were ended upon the call of Kurdistan Workers Party's (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan yesterday (May 26).
Attending the 1st Ordinary Congress of the Anatolian Association for Aid and Solidarity with Families Who Lost Their Relatives (ANYAKAY-DER), Buldan made the following statements in brief:
"The hunger strike started by Leyla Güven 200 days ago has been ended.
"In no parts of the world and in no chapter of human history have so many people laid their bodies to hunger.
"The last meeting with Öcalan was made by us as a political delegation. In that meeting, he stated that he did not want anything for his own conditions.
"He is still at the same point and on the same line today. What he says is the peace of our people. The fact that he is emphasizing it once again... The ones ruling Turkey should understand it very well.
"Peace will come to this country, to this land and, as a result of your contribution, this country will finally have peace.
"We will all together start a new period, a new process when not a single child of ours is dead and buried, our mothers do not shed tears, the future of our children is secured and the future of Kurdish people is secured. We will wage a struggle for that."
