Acquittal For çArşı

All of the 35 suspect of çArşı trial, who had been put on trial with charges of “attempting to overthrow the government”, “forming and leading a terrorist organization”, “forming and leading a criminal organization”, “resisting against police” and “opposing against the law on demonstration and march” have been acquitted.

The hearing has been held in İstanbul 13th High Criminal Court.

In the legal opinion presented in the previous hearing, Abdullah Mirza Coşkun, prosecutor of the hearing had demanded acquittal from the charges of coup and forming organizations for all the suspects.

The prosecutor had also demanded up to 3 years of imprisonment for all the suspects with charges of unauthorized demonstration and for four of the suspects an additional four to 11 years of imprisonment with other charges in addition to unauthorized demonstration.

Two of the suspects on trial have been sentenced to two and a half years of imprisonment due to possessing illegal substance. (EKN/DG)
