Some 95 percent of the youth in Turkey view climate change as one of the most significant dangers that their country faces, according to a report by the British Council.
The Global Youth Letter on Climate Action final report includes the result of surveys with more than 8,000 young people in 23 countries.
Conducted ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), which will take place between November 1-12, the study shows that the youth views climate change as an enormous threat and is willing to take action about it.
Eighty-five percent of the 529 respondents from Turkey said they are ready to take part in the climate movement and to take action. While 71 percent said they had not taken part in any awareness event, they said they want to change that.
Also, the youth in Turkey want leaders and policy makers to include them in the fight against climate change. They also emphasize the importance of education in order to better understand the effects of climate change in Turkey. (AÖ/VK)
