Formula in Adultery

When the opposition of the Republican Peoples Party (CHP) was also added to the reactions raised from the domestic and foreign public opinion, AKP renounced from its initiative to make the adultery a crime.

The proposal, which was made yesterday by CHP leader Deniz Baykal to AKP with respect to the removal of obstacles before the freedom of thought instead of adultery provision, gave result.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul and Justice Minister Cemil Cicek held a surprise meeting.

At the meeting, agreement was reached in respect that "no proposal which does not bear the joint signatures of two parties shall not come to the agenda." Thus, submission of proposal towards making adultery a crime was barred. (YE)
