President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken about the United States’ suspension of visa services in Turkey at Ukraine’s capital city of Kiev.
Speaking at the joint press conference held with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Erdoğan addressing the suspension said, “It is very saddening”.
Stating that it was him giving the order to suspend visa services in the US, Erdoğan spoke as follows:
“Very saddening”
“First of all, this decision is very very saddening. It is sad that the ambassador in Ankara took such a decision and put it into practice.
“Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials called their counterparts to take the necessary steps”.
“Turkey is not a tribal state”
“Indeed, as soon as our minister filled me in with this subject, I told them ‘Turkey is a state of law. We are not a tribe, nor a tribal state. Based on the principle of reciprocity, our embassy in America should give exactly the same text as they give”. (EKN/TK)
