Research assistant Emre Özyetiş, whom the President of Mardin Artuklu University Ahmet Ağırakça assigned to another department by stating "I don't want a lecturer behaving like a girl at my school", has won his legal struggle.
Özyetiş, who was a research assistant at the Department of Architecture, was assigned to the School of Physical Education and Sports by Ağırakça.
The Mardin Administrative Court has announced its verdict regarding Özyetiş and ruled that his assignment from the Department of Architecture to the School of Physical Education and Sports is contrary to law.
The court has also ruled that Emre Özyetiş shall be reinstated in his previous position at the department of architecture.
The verdict has been announced after a one-year judgement process.
Acquittal of "terrorism" charges
A criminal case was also previously filed against Emre Özyetiş due to his social media posts on charges of "praising terrorist organizations and insulting state authorities and university administration."
The Mardin 4th Heavy Penal Court stated that the social media posts of Özyetiş did not constitute a crime and ruled that he shall be acquitted of the pressed charges on April 13, 2018. (ZY/HK/SD)
